The final conclusion.

Throughout the recent years, many problems and solutions have arisen by means of conflict, stress, fear and time. It is merely a matter of years before world war three breaks out, a bold statement, I know, but how can we continue to ignore what is going on around us? Darfur, Iraq, Afghanistan, North Korea, Japan, Iran, the whole world is on fire. But remember, we didn't start the fire, it was always burning since the world's been turning.

Iraq (eee-rock) war/conflict

The war in Iraq is the new problem faced by Americans, and the world, today. With a government and country in shambles, American forces are working steadily to prevent terrorism taking over and a stable government similar to that in the United States established. The country is unstable, and fights the reform every step, which is where the problem lies for our efforts. Seeing as how I just had a cousin return from a tour of duty, this is my most connected problem in the world today, and we can only hope to find a solution to the distress in the middle east soon.

9/11/2001

The most memorable day in current generations mind, the day that will truly live in infamy, September 11Th, 2001. The attack on the world trade centers in New York City was a shameful attack by Osama bin Laden and the Taliban against American civilians and everything our glorious country represents. Thousands of innocent Americans lost their lives on that sad day, and it was because personal and religious views clouded the judgement of one man, a terrorist. With hatred in the world, there can never be peace.

The Cold war. Brrr.

The Cold war, one of the only wars without real fighting, was one of the scariest times in all of America's pristine history. The soviet union and the United states both had their fingers over the big red button, waiting for someone to fire the first shot. The Cuban missile crisis and the U-2 incident are great examples of major events during this time in history, where the only thing that was assured, was mutually assured destruction.

Age of anxiety summarized.

The age of anxiety was a crucial time in history between the two biggest wars our world has ever seen. Whether it was Hitler in Germany, or Mussolini in Italy, fear was an abundance in Europe, and would soon seep into the United States. This time period is a great example of how we as a whole must assist in recovering, torn countries before terror and fear become the platform for governments.

Six feet under with the waters rising

This piece of art said to represent the Age of anxiety, shows me that people could only watch as the wave of terror began to creep over Europe. Hitler and Mussolini were converting the masses into their own followings and creating armies that would soon prove to outmatch those of other bordering countries, and bring with them a wave of fear throughout the world. Although the picture shows a child running, it could represent the eastern European countries running to the United States for help against these major tyrants. In the end, all that matters is the outcome.

Musso"meany"?

Italy, weak and worn, comes under the influence of Mussolini. Mussolini, becoming swayed by Hitler, becomes allied in world war II. Anxiety was high in Italy, seeing as how war was eminent and Italy was already upset that they did not get any spoils of world war II. An angry leader is a reckless leader, and a country led by such is nothing but a hot spot for fear and danger. World war II, here we come!

Age of anxiety: The rise of Hitler

After the fall of the Second Reich, Germany was trembling in terms of their government. When a country is weak, they are at the highest risk of a tyrannical power promising salvation to come in and change the course of history forever, well look what we have. Hitler, born in Austria, turned away from the army, and trembling with childhood problems, came into control through promises and talk, and brought great fear throughout the age of anxiety, thus why there was so much anxiety, xanex anyone?

WWII summary

Throughout World War II, many lives, most innocent, were lost in the quest for victory. Although the two atomic bombs dropped brought the end of a staggering war, one could argue at what cost? Human life is surely not expendable, but is it ok to kill millions to save millions more? The main question of this chapter is what cost is human life, and who can ultimately decide who lives and who dies? All in all, who watches the watchmen?

America gets "fat" in WWII

The Fat boy, an image foreshadowing to their future populous (ha ha), was one of the main contributors to the end of WWII. Along with Little Man, these two weapons of mass destruction brought Japan to shambles and along with this an unconditional surrender to the American forces. Had we not dropped the bomb, would the war have trudged on? One can only ponder the imponderable for so long before they realize that what has happened, can not be changed. Although one of the most questionable military calls in all of history, these bombs were efficient in bringing Japan to its knees for bowing to the allied forces, Yeah!

Women in World War II

Oh yes, here they come, we CAN do it! Women begin to "man" the machines, contribute to household incomes and contribute to the war efforts. Many women had to go without ribbon, fabrics, and other materials throughout the war, since they were being used to fight the Axis powers. The art piece shown above portrays how women could cut back and use their resources for only necessary times, and carry the groceries (which they bought with THEIR earned money) without using a car. Women are essential during world war II, and were now creating the idea of greater equality in the United States.

World War II Resources

During the ill-famed World war II, many supplies were coming up short all around the world. Through embargo's, and deals with other countries, the United States was able to barely maintain a sense of security with their supplies, even those as simple as food. In the Art above, an example of war poster art, we see how Americans were encouraged to plant beans to feed their boys, which shows the desperate times that were trying the American forces.

WWI Class discussion

During our classes lesson on WWI and all the events leading up to it, I could do nothing but look in amazement at how much it took for all of these small events to create such a worldwide clash of powers, resulting in Germany's beginning demise and the end of the Second Reich. Although I cannot recall too many specifics, it is obvious that World War I is the main reason for World War II, which we as students will soon learn.

Nationalism and recruiting during WWI

America, America, oh how we come together in our hour of need. The patriotism that showed through recruiting posters such as the one shown above portray that when the going gets tough, the tough get going (much like these blogs). This war, WWI, was the first main example of America as a whole coming together for battle and uniting under ONE flag. In the Civil war, brother fought brother, but now, the brothers fight together against one power. Hail to the flag!

Trench Combat

Trench Combat made its large and prevalent appearance during World War I, bringing with it great death and little ground gain. The brutality of the idea of thousands dying for nothing more than 10 yards is shocking, yet it was a blemish in our military's history. Along with Trench Warfare came new problems, such as trench foot and gangreen, both resulting in loss of limb. The ideas of trench warfare will be forgotten early in World War II and new tactics will be introduced.
